Brandon Royal is a visual artist based in the Washington, D.C. area, where he lives with his wife, two children, and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Hershey.
His work is inspired by iconic American landmarks and the individuals who have shaped American history. His passion for art and architecture began at age 13 when his family moved to France, where he developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and historical design.
His original large-scale drawings, which take several months to complete, are meticulously rendered in graphite, charcoal, and India ink. Each piece honors the artistry and historical significance of its subject, inviting viewers to reflect on the enduring values they represent. His mixed-media works, inspired by his drawings, are expressive, bold, and vibrant—offering a dynamic contrast to his finely detailed renderings.
Brandon enjoys creating both private and public commissions. He also teaches art in Alexandria, Virginia, and passes by the National Monuments everyday on his way to work—a constant source of inspiration.
